Mentorship and career readiness for high school girls

The Girls That Can (TGTC) is a professional community for graduating high school girls in Ghana as they prepare to transition into tertiary education and adulthood. TGTC gives young high school graduates access to mentorship and career-readiness resources that help them gain practical skills, and explore future possibilities through guidance from professionals and mentors.

What TGTC Is

TGTC is designed for girls who want more than academic success. It is for girls who want guidance, exposure, and real-world preparation as they begin thinking seriously about life after high school.

Through mentoring, workshops, and career exposure, TGTC creates a supportive space where girls can ask questions, build skills, and begin shaping their futures with greater clarity and confidence.

How It Works

1. Join the program Apply to become part of a TGTC cohort and begin the journey with an orientation and goal-setting session.

2. Learn from mentors and professionals

Engage in small-group mentoring, workshops, guest talks, and conversations with women and professionals from different fields.

3. Build real-world skills

Take part in sessions focused on communication skills, CV/resume creation and LinkedIn (and social media) development and maintenance, interviewing, self-advocacy, and future planning.

4. Explore possibilities

Gain exposure to different career paths through talks, panels, and virtual or in-person shadowing opportunities where available.

5. Leave with clarity and next steps

By the end of the program, girls leave with stronger confidence, practical tools, professional exposure, and a clearer sense of what they want to pursue next.
